Over 14.2 Million have conditions resulting in a special health care need
Did You Know? Today, 54% of our children suffer from chronic illnesses like Asthma, Obesity, Developmental Delays, Food Allergies, Nerve Damage, ADHD, Autism, Eczema, G.I. Distress, Epilepsy, and Cancer... just to name a few.
An estimated 43% of US children (32 million) currently have at least 1 of 20 chronic health conditions assessed, increasing to 54.1% when overweight, obesity, or being at risk for developmental delays are included.
Over 14.16 million (19.2%) of the estimated 73.76 million children in the United States have one or more ongoing health conditions that result in a greater need for or use of health services of a type or amount than is generally required by children.
Over 14.2 million have conditions resulting in a special health care need. The jump has not been connected to income status. The increase was observed in both publicly insured and privately insured children between 2003 and 2007.
